it took eight years for me to realize
all the kids that I thought I liked
when I was young and need someone
to tell me this isn't what it's like
out there in the real world
where you won't be handed a single thing
They had all the coolest clothes and could afford all of the gear
to start all of the best punk bands and throw the best parties every year
While the lame kids sat outside and waited in line hoping to get in.

but we're the ones who know what it's like to really be alone
those songs are written about us not the kids from perfect homes
with perfect families and their credit cards, SUV's and big back yards

I was always wondering where things where going to end up
while the rich kids had their whole life planned out from the start
it must be nice not having to worry if the lights will go off
I still remember getting punched when I stood up for the kid
who never really had much or friends to play with but
